CD156b This item detects an epitope within the C-terminus of isoform 1 of CD156b, a type I transmembrane glycoprotein which belongs to the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. CD156b is 125kD, and functions as a tumour necrosis factor-alpha converting enzyme (TACE). CD156b also causes a number of inflammatory modulators to undergo ectodomain shedding, including TNFR75, IL-1RII, TNFR55, L-selectin, and the amyloid precursor protein among others. CD156b plays a prominent role in the activation of the Notch signalling pathway. _x000D_ADAM17 plays a pivotal role in several acquired tumor cell capabilities by mediating the availability of soluble transforming growth factor-alpha, and establishing an autocrine signaling pathway through endogenous EGFR activation. CD156b is therefore a prospective therapeutic target in human cancer.
